Websites within the ‘gmu.edu’ domain must be hosted on either a university-provided Content Management System (CMS) or an Information Technology Services (ITS) approved platform.
George Mason University offers three CMS options:
- Mason WordPress Platform: Managed by ITS, this environment is available to colleges, departments, and other university units.
- Mason.gmu.edu: Hosted by ITS, the Mason.gmu.edu platform is available to registered students, faculty, staff, and authorized
guests. It supports personal, departmental, school, center, and organizational websites.
- SiteMasonry CMS Platform: Managed by the Office of University Branding (OUB), the SiteMasonry CMS platform hosts high-visibility sites such as GMU.edu and the Office of the President.
All three platforms - Mason WordPress, Mason.gmu.edu, and SiteMasonry CMS - comply with the university’s requirements for web security, data analytics, accessibility, responsive (mobile-friendly) design and brand standards.
